Helpful hints to print Mineral Titles Reference Maps from Abobe Acrobat

All the PDF map files on this webpage are created from large format CAD files. There are two ways to print these maps to scale:

  1. Use a large format plotter to print the entire map, or
  2. Use a desktop printer to print a portion of a map. Use the Acrobat 'Graphic Select' tool to select a portion of the map as follows:

This is the Graphic Select Tool.

The Graphic Select Tool in Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 is 'behind' the Text Select button.

You will need to click and hold the Text Select button until the submenu appears:

Then continue depressing the mouse button and move your cursor over the Graphic Select Tool. Release your mouse button while it is pointing to the Graphic Select Tool.

In Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 the Graphic Select Tool is located on the tool bar.

Use the Graphic Select Tool to draw a marquee box around the area of the map you wish to print. After selecting the area to print you can either click the printer icon or right click within the selected area to bring up a 'pop-up' menu. Select 'Print' from the pop-up menu.

In the Print dialog window make sure the "Selected graphic" radio button is selected in the Print Range area and that "Fit to page" is not checked (this option might be called "Shrink..." or "Expand..." depending on Acrobat version and printer type). In any case, do not select this option otherwise the map scale will be altered.

You may also want to switch the paper orientation to Landscape from the Properties button.

Using these instructions should result in a portion of the Mineral Titles Reference Map being printed to scale on your desktop printer. If these instruction result in a blank page being printed you are probably using Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5. If this happens please click here for more instructions.
