Land
and Resource Data Warehouse
Data Warehousing at MSRM
Overview
The
Ministry maintains and manages a number of land use and resource inventory
information systems. These systems constitute a record of land, mineral,
vegetative and other natural resources of the Province, as well as the
rights, tenures and activities of those that use these resources.
The systems have both spatial data and non-spatial (often called attribute)
data components, the attribute data being intimately related to the
spatial data.
The vision is to create a new integrated spatial data warehouse that
delivers the sophisticated transformation, consolidation, dimensional
analysis and reporting services that are typical of modern conventional
data warehouse/business intelligence (DW/BI) systems.

Evolution
IDW
becomes LRDW
As the Integrated
Data Warehouse (IDW) project moves off the drawing boards and into operation,
it adopts the more fitting name of Land and Resource Data Warehouse
(LRDW). Hence you may find documents predating the fall of 2002 referencing
IDW, which is now synonymous with LRDW.
