Fraser River Management Plan: Hope to Mission

Welcome to the Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management home page for information on the Fraser River Management Plan: Hope to Mission. The Fraser Basin Council is facilitating the consensus-based, multi-interest process to develop a Management Plan for the Fraser River from Hope to Mission. The Management Plan is intended to protect key values in the river, including flood and erosion protection, gravel resources, fish and aquatic habitat, navigation, and First Nations interests. The ministry has agreed to take the lead in implementing components of the plan by:
  • establishing a web site that provides information on the management plan and its implementation
  • providing a "one window" approach for applications for gravel removals identified through a pro-active strategy
  • developing an "Application Guidebook" that brings together all information and application forms from the various agencies involved in gravel removal approvals or permits
  • maintaining a project and sediment registry to track applications and approved removals, and
  • developing and maintaining a Geographic Information System for management plan data.

The intent is to provide an open and transparent process so that the public and interested parties will be well informed on any gravel removal applications, their review, and the decision process. The following links are provided for that purpose.
