Self-Service with Tantalis GATOR

[Top]

GATOR (Government Access Tool for On-line Retrieval) enables CLR clients to extract information directly from the Tantalis database. It equips users who have an internet connection to produce sophisticated information products from the database, with no other tools or experience.

Please read on, for some important information about GATOR:

  • Products available from GATOR. GATOR presently provides textual/attribute reports on key elements of the Tantalis database:
    • primary parcels (original surveys of Crown land, prior to subdivision);
    • Crown land survey parcels (records of surveys over Crown land);
    • Crown land interest parcels (tenures, rights of way and reserves); and
    • encumbrances on Crown land survey parcels (a listing of all rights to Crown land, including ownership, tenure and right of way rights)
  • New improvements to GATOR. New improvements enable users to extract information on tenure and ownership history, forestry survey parcels and more.
  • Plans to expand GATOR. Since GATOR II became available in April 2000, the capacity of the GATOR system has greatly expanded.
    • In July 2000, GATOR began to provide document images. We can now provide high quality images of Crown grants, official plans and well site plans through GATOR. Images that are not yet part of our dataset we will make available upon request.
    • New Image Viewer Plug-ins

      • Two new plug-ins allow enhanced viewing and printing of scanned images
      • Enhanced image format provided
      • Help documents provided for downloading of the two new Image Viewer Plug-ins
  • More information on Gator. Please visit the GATOR topic on our Business Solutions page.

We offer a quarter-hour of consultative service free of charge.

This fee may be applied to reference maps and status maps, where customizing for client specifications is required. $50.00 per hour (GST and PST exempt)

Customized Mapping Services

[Top]

We customize mapping products to meet special client needs. Here are some prominent examples of mapping products we have developed:

  • We provided land status maps to support the British Columbia treaty process and, in particular, to provide a basis for negotiations regarding comprehensive land claims of the Nisga'a Tribal Council.
  • For BC Parks we adapted cadastral maps (1: 20 000 scale) to display shapes enclosing areas of interest being considered for designation as provincial parks.
  • Our staff, in conjunction with the Land and Resource Management Planning (LRMP) Round Table on the Environment, mapped the boundary of the Northern Rockies Muskwa-Kechika Management Area (scale: 1: 600 000). The Muskwa-Kechika map can be viewed through the official Northern Rockies website. Paper prints of the map are available.
  • We have partnership arrangements with BC Parks and the Land Reserve Commission to maintain mapping of boundaries for provincial parks and agricultural land reserves throughout the province.

Customized products require advance planning to determine the client's precise needs and to schedule the work.

Please Note: Customized mapping services are presently under review. Thank you for your interest in these products. We will post updated information on customized mapping services as soon as the review is completed.
